My wife Beth and I hiked up on Sunday, October 15th, which was a beautiful day! The hike up Alum Cave Trail was strenuous, of course, but not really more than we had expected. We took a short break at the bluff.
Our little cabin was so cozy and comfortable too. The staff was great and did a wonderful job, especially in the kitchen! The hike down was a breeze, except for a little drizzle which made the footing a little slick.
I always marvel at the thousands of tourist that ride around in their cars in traffic jams, and never leave the pavement to enjoy the real beauty of the Park. They come so close, but don't have a clue what they are missing. I have always told my wife that anyone can drive up a mountain, get out of their car and look out and say, "Oh, that's pretty!"
But to climb the mountain, and stand on it with aching legs and back, makes ones eyes so much clearer to the beauty of God's creation- it's just awesome! Thanks again!
